Feel the adrenaline surge - experience the ultimate racing showdown!
Auto Race, a public gambling event in Japan with a 70-year history, is renowned for its thrilling high-speed battles. Eight motorcycles compete over six laps on a 500-meter-long, 30-meter-wide oval track.
The 87 meter straight makes a big difference to the results. The motorcycles race down this straight at a maximum speed of 150 km/h, allowing spectators to experience the intense power of motorsports up close.
Spectator areas are located at close range around the oval course, allowing you to watch the race through a wire fence. Feel the sound of the exhaust echoes and the vibration of the engines even in the spectator seats. The sparks of friction between the motorcycles and the track at the corners amplify the tension of the race. The smell of burning tires also thrills spectators with the extreme speed of the races. Auto Race is truly a form of entertainment you feel with your 6 senses.
Sleek, powerful, unstoppable - this is more than a motorcycle, it's a statement.
Auto Race is the fastest of all publicly operated sports.
The roaring sound of engines, the sound of tires sliding on the road, and the echoing cheers of the crowd. The extreme race consists of a top speed of 150 kilometers per hour. When entering a corner, the speed is still as high as 90 kmph (about 60 mph). The motorcycles used in the races are maintained by the racers themselves. These specialized machines are powered by a Suzuki 600CC engine customized exclusively for Auto Race and have a simple design that has been stripped to the bare minimum components to allow for maximum speed.
These motorcycles are equipped with a special handle that is high on the left side so that the steering wheel is level while driving, and triangular tires that enhance the ground contact between the race track and the tires for tilted driving.
There are only two gears, low and top. The carburetor has no idling function, and the engine brake is powerful. The absence of brakes is to prevent accidents.
One track, countless dreams - witness the race that defines champions!
Even beginners can enjoy Auto Race casually. There are 7 patterns available for ticket purchases, starting at 100 yen. You can also purchase tickets online.
Riders are divided into four grades, from regular races to SG. There are usually 12 races a day, with eight motorcycles running 6 laps per race. The process includes the introduction of the racers, the trial run, ticket sales, start, race, finish, and determination of the winning motorcycle. The “trial run” is very critical for spectators to make their predictions. Riders can be chosen based on their expertise, such as those who are skilled at starting fast, riding in the rain, overtaking from outside, and so on. The “handicap system” allows any rider to finish first. Depending on the recent result and rank of the racers, slower racers can start ahead of faster racers.
Night races have a special atmosphere, which immerses you in a unique sense of quietness and tension. The night race, in which “sparks” fly when the racers' feet touch the ground as they round the corners, can be found at Isesaki, Iizuka, and Kawaguchi race tracks.
Only Iizuka Auto has a Midnight Race held from 8:30 to 11:30 PM
Fearless and unstoppable - meet the riders who live life in the fast lane.
There are approximately 400 active auto racers nationwide and they are divided into 3 classes based on race performance: Class S (1st to 48th), Class A (49th to 280th), and Class B (281st to lowest). The youngest racer is 20 years old and the oldest racer is 76. Racers have a variety of backgrounds, many of whom have switched from road racing, motocross, and various other sports, but age, gender, and background are irrelevant. Mori, a former member of a J-POP group, a businessman, a pastry chef, and a firefighter are just a few examples of the personalities of the individual racers. The more you follow each individual racer, the more fun you can have while watching the races.
Feel the rush, hear the roar, and live the thrill - an experience like no other!
The only way to know auto racing is to experience it! There are five race tracks in Japan - Kawaguchi, Isesaki, Iizuka, Hamamatsu, and Sanyo - where exciting races are held every day.
Kawaguchi is the Mecca of Auto Race, boasting the highest sales and attendance in Japan. Isesaki's night races are also famous as a dating spot. Hamamatsu opened its new main stand in July 2022.
Iizuka is located almost in the center of Fukuoka Prefecture, and Sanyo is conveniently accessible by car, attracting many fans. Both are also known for hosting “Midnight Auto Races,” which are held with no spectators and only online betting. In addition to the race tracks, spread across Japan from Hokkaido to Kagoshima, you can enjoy the races on a big screen and buy tickets, and you can also casually experience Auto Race through Internet live broadcasts.
